Why Therapy

Individuals in therapy express the importance of having a scheduled time to reflect on themselves and their lives. Talking with an objective listener helps them to understand why they engage in certain behaviors and avoid others, how they have been affected by life events, and how they may want to change and grow.

Therapy provides a confidential setting where a person can identify and overcome both internal and external obstacles that interfere with desired life goals. The therapist can offer both support and gentle challenge. Therapy creates a safe place for exploring thoughts, feelings, actions, consequences, and next steps.

Each person has a complex and rich history of feelings and life experiences. Each can discover and shape a personal path for achieving greater self-confidence, self-esteem, and satisfaction in relationships, career, and life. In working with many individuals over the years, I have been impressed with their courage, willingness to take a careful look at their lives, and resiliency in the face of hardship. It has been a privilege to share in their happiness as they have achieved more fulfillment and contentment in their lives.
